Advantages include:

NewAma

NewAma is a new product which has superseded the original Amanawa. The yarns are now in bundles of four, instead of being single, and the three strands have a more gentle twist. This makes the rope softer so it forms better knots and frictions whilst increasing flexibilty for better handling. This construction is the same as the new version of our jute rope, NewAsa, and similar to our flagship rope, Clara Premium.

Changes to new batch of NewAma 6mm

Due to yarn availability, the latest batch of NewAma has a different construction to the previous batch. The look and feel is very similar to the original Amanawa, i.e. quite dense and hard with initial stiffness. By comparison, it has a slight sheen and even smother finish due to the 50% higher yarn count. This rope comprises of 3 strands, each comprising 8 plies of 8 bundles of double yarn, giving a yarn count of 128. This construction eliminates any issue with yarn loops as was experienced with one delivery of the old Amanawa 5mm which was sold as 2nd grade as a result.

AmaNawa Soft

Due to the success of the new construction of our Clara Premium jute rope, this method is being extended to other products. The advantage is that it ensures more even tension between the yarns. This means that it stays in balance, thus requiring less maintenance and giving longer life. It also eliminates the faults, like yarn loops, that can occur when making single yarn ropes.

Our latest product, NewAma Soft, is an extremely soft, flexible and compressible rope for tight knots and frictions. It is also quite light at 17.5g per metre so it handles beautifully. It is the typical 3-strand construction but with 5 sub-plies of 8 double yarns, giving a massive 120 yarns for optimal smoothness. It is totally unlike a lot of hemp rope which has a yarn count in single figures making it crude by comparison. This is a premium quality product.

No need for wet treatment as it is already as soft as you could want and there is no farmyard smell. As with all linen hemp, it is very unlikely to trigger any allergies common with cannabis hemp.
